Pre-Conference Lecture

“A Decade of Development”

Welcome Message

I welcome all delegates from Hong Kong, China, and the Asia Pacific region to attend Brain 2016, the thirteen Brain conference. I note that we have among us neurosurgeons, pathologists, oncologists, psychiatrists, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and scientists. This is a truly multidisciplinary meeting.

The first Brain conference was held in 2003 by neurosurgeons, neurologists and neuropathologists at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. We have been working closely for many years, we thought we might as well hold a conference together since none of us was big enough to hold conference every year on our own and we truly believe in a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of nervous system disorders.

I happen to be the Chair of this conference because neurosurgeons, neurologists and pathologists alternate to organize the meeting so I just thank, on behalf of Professor Wai-sang Poon of Neurosurgery and Professor Lawrence K. S. Wong of Neurology, all the speakers who have come a long way, and all the delegates.

I hope we all enjoy the themes of Tumours, Epilepsy, Robotics and Brain Stimulation and Stroke in coming two days.
